My patients' experiences has taught me to live fully, deeply grateful for all that life has to offer. The content that I make online is dedicated to all my patients past, present and future.
Founder of RehabSmiths, now Quest Physiotherapy
I've been studying, thinking about and treating pain and movement for 2 decades. I graduated from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in 2001 with a degree in Physiotherapy (First Class Honours). I also won a University Award for Best Physiotherapy Research in Gerontology for 2001 for my research on balance in elderly amputees. Thereafter I worked as a physiotherapist in the large teaching hospitals in Brisbane as well as a research assistant to the esteemed Professor Sandra Brauer at the University of Queensland. In 2005, together with Professor Brauer and Dr Jennifer Nitz, I published a research paper on "Somatosensation, circulation and stance balance in elderly dysvascular transtibial amputees". In the same year, I pursued and was awarded a Graduate Certificate in Molecular Biology after using Bioinformatics to investigate the genetic control of muscle wasting in frogs. Soon after, I based myself in the UK to see more of the world. I worked under the National Health Service (NHS) in Northern Ireland, Manchester and London. I also earned my certification as an APPI Matwork Pilates Instructor in 2009.
In 2010, I moved back to Singapore and subsequently started my own private practice. I was privileged to have been flown to Jakarta and Beijing to attend to private patients. I was also engaged to treat Kylie's entourage when they performed in Singapore.
Knowledge and Awareness can drive prevention and positive change, to stop the pain-injury cycle. I enjoy translating research to educate people on how to become body smart, how to use their bodies effectively, to become active participants in their own rehabilitation so that they can regain control over their bodies and the freedom to move confidently through life.
"Your Body is without doubt, the most amazing gift you'll ever possess. Learn to treat it well".
